Dean: Prof. Mohyi  Aldien Abu Alhoul

Since its establishment in 2009, coinciding with the founding of the university, the Faculty of Arts has embraced the mission of advancing knowledge and education, playing a significant role in enriching academic and cultural fields.

The faculty began its journey as the “Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences”, initially offering programs in Arabic Language and Literature and Special Education. The first cohort of students was welcomed in the 2009/2010 academic year.

In response to societal needs and labor market demands, the faculty introduced the Psychological Counseling program in 2010, followed by the English Language and Literature program in 2011. In 2014, and in alignment with the decisions of the Higher Education Council, the Department of University Requirements and Basic Sciences was established to address the diverse academic needs of students.

The Faculty of Arts is dedicated to delivering high-quality academic programs that combine tradition with modernity in the fields of languages, literature, and the humanities. The faculty is committed to achieving academic and cultural excellence through conferences and events that enhance the knowledge and skills of both students and faculty members, contributing to the development of a knowledge-based society capable of meeting contemporary challenges.

As part of its developmental vision, the faculty has witnessed notable progress, including the separation of the Educational Sciences department into an independent entity, while the Faculty of Arts continues to lead in the humanities field. The faculty now comprises the Departments of Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, University Requirements and Basic Sciences, and the History Department, which was introduced in the 2020/2021 academic year.

In recognition of the faculty’s capabilities and expertise, a Master’s program in Arabic Language and Literature was launched in the 2022/2023 academic year, aimed at preparing qualified graduates to contribute to educational and research institutions both locally and internationally.

The Faculty of Arts remains dedicated to fulfilling Ajloun National University’s mission, committed to promoting enlightenment, knowledge, and cultural openness. Through its collaboration with peer faculties of arts in Jordan and across the Arab world, the faculty affirms its pivotal role in advancing human and intellectual contributions, ensuring its graduates become ambassadors of knowledge and learning on a global scale.
