The Legal Department

The Legal Department

Director of the Department; Dr. Hashem Blas

Legal departments and advisory offices within institutions, including universities, play a crucial role in assisting decision-makers with legally sound judgments based on clear principles that adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. This is why the Office of Legal Affairs was established at the University Presidency in 2019, following a decision by the University President. The office operates directly under the University President and includes a legal advisor—a faculty member from the Faculty of Law—along with several administrative staff members who hold academic degrees in law. A committee, appointed by the University President, is responsible for updating university legislation (regulations and instructions) as necessary, convening regularly to ensure that these regulations reflect current legal standards and institutional needs.
