The evolution of any nation and its greatness is measured by how much it spends on scientific research and its ability to use scientific research results to serve the development and to solve the problems of society. Since scientific research is one of the main objectives of ANU, the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies is established and two master programs in the specialties of law and Islamic banks started beginning the second semester of the academic year 2014/2015.

The deanship is interested in all human efforts aiming at the development of human knowledge (scientific research). The Deanship is working on organizing the affairs of scientific research at the university, encourages and supports by various means scientific research given priority to research projects that serve the development plans of the country and help in solving community problems. The Deanship exercises its work through the Scientific Research Council which is formed at the beginning of each academic year by the Deans Council.

The Deanship organizes and follow-up of graduate students affairs through the Council of Graduate Studies, which is also formed at the beginning of each academic year by the Deans Council .The university deeply believes that graduate studies ( Master programs ) is the most important arm supporting supporting the march of scientific research.

Mission

Active participation in serving development plans by providing scientific distinct research that simulates the issues and problems of local community and contributes effectively in the preparation and qualification of human cadres that highly compete and meet the labor market requirements.

Objectives
  1. Increase of human knowledge and promote the culture of scientific research among faculty members.
  2. Motivate and encourage teaching staff to publish their research work results in international journals of high caliber and to participate effectively in specialized scientific conferences.
  3. Encourage scientific conferences, workshops and seminars related to community issues.
  4. Develop and promote of graduate students capabilities in the methods of scientific research.
  5. Prepare and qualify specialists of high caliber to meet the labor market requirements.
  6. Ensure the quality of graduate studies at the university in collaboration with faculties and departments.

Tasks of Scientific Research Council
  1. Submission of proposals about Scientific research policy, scientific research priorities, and means of implementation.
  2. Promote and encourage of cooperation and coordination in terms of scientific research with other parties both inside and outside the university.
  3. Evaluation of the scientific research projects and approval.
  4. lay the rules for keeping the university and researchers rights in the research results.
  5. Discuss the annual budget for scientific research.
  6. Discuss the annual report of the Scientific Research.
  7. Recommend supporting the publication or dissemination of manuscripts, after evaluation.
  8. Any other matters related to scientific research.

Tasks Of Graduate studies Council
  1. Placement to the Deans Council to approve the study plans (master programs ).
  2. Introduce rules and instructions for the admission of graduate students in line with the criteria for the accreditation of Graduate Studies.
  3. Placement to the Deans Council the number of students to be admitted at the beginning of each academic year.
  4. Approve the students admission list in the master programs.
  5. Propose any additional conditions for the admission of graduate students.
  6. Supervise and organize the graduate studies at the university through collaboration and coordination between different departments.
  7. Approve the final grades of graduate students at the end of each semester.
  8. placement to the Deans Council to grant master degree.
  9. Studying all the matters directed to it by the Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies.
  10. Approve the formation of committees to discuss and evaluate master theses.
  11. Approve the appointment of supervisors for master theses.
  12. placement to the Deans Council to establish of graduate studies programs, upon the recommendation of the faculty council and a proposal from the department board.
